DEGREE OF ADJECTIVE:
Hey everyone, Here we are going to cover the Degree of Adjective (Adjective) which is very important to know because it helps us to express our thought effectively.
Degree helps us to compare anything or to show comparison between anything.
Examples:
I am a smart boy.
I am smarter than my friend.
I am the smartest boy in my class.
There are three degree of Adjective:
1.Positive ( No comparison)
2.Comparative (Comparison between two)
3.Superlative( Comparison with more than 2)
List Of Adjectives In The Different Degree Of Comparison:
S NO. | POSITIVE | COMPARATIVE | SUPERLATIVE |
1. | bad | worse | worst |
2. | big | bigger | The biggest |
3. | far | farther/further | The farthest/furthest |
4. | Beautiful | More beautiful | Most beautiful |
5. | Active | More active | The Most active |
6. | famous | More famous | The most famous |
Note:
- Ab aap soch rahe honge ki 4/5/6 example me comparative mein more use kiya and superlative mein the most.
- So iska reason hai SYLLABLES . Don’t worry chalo samjhte hai…
SYLLABLES:
It means the sound of vowels (a,e,i,o,u).
If there are more than one sound of vowel then we use the more in comparative and the most in superlative
Like,
1. beautiful ( sound of vowel 3)
comparative of beautiful is more beautiful
Superlative of beautiful is most beautiful
2. honest ( sound of vowel 2 )
Comparative of honest is more honest
Superlative of honest is most honest
As :
With as we use positive degree of adjective let us understand why
Example : She is as soft as cotton ( soft )
Iss example mein hum compare nhi kar rhe hum bata rhe hai ki woh cotton jaisi soft hai matlab comparison nhi ho raha balki hum bata rhe hai ki woh cotton jitna soft hai means equal hai na kam na jyaada cotton se.
