What is Preposition?


 Preposition, it is used to express relation to another word or element in the clause

Examples:
  1. "the man on the platform"
  2. "she arrived after dinner"
 more Preposition... on, in, at, by, besides, beside, among, between etc.... Hum aur bhi and sab ko discuss karte hai so bane rahe hamare sath and keep enjoying.....


Discussing Preposition one by one( ON, IN, AT, BY):

1. ON


We use on in following situation and condition or to show various relations:- 

a. Jab hume batana ho ki koi ya kuch chiz kisi ke uper hai. 
Man sitting on the chair
Sitting on chair
Ex:
      I am sitting on the chair.

b. Days ( Specify )
Ex:
    On Monday, On Friday, etc..
    Jab hume koi day point out karna ho jaise ki main Monday ko aaunga 
    I will come on Monday.

c.Dates 
Ex:
   My birthday is on 6th of July.

d. Festivals
Ex:
    I'll meet you on Diwali.

e. Transport
Ex:
   I am on bus 
   I am on train 
Note: Hum vehicle ke sath on use kar rhe hai because here i am not driving so specification is not here. If i will drive then I'll use in like I am in my car.

We use in in following situation and condition or to show various relations :-

 a. Jab hume batana ho ki koi chiz ya koi kisi ke ander hai
Ex:
   He is sitting in his room.

 b. Months
 Ex: 
     In January

 c.Seasons
 Ex:
     In winter

 d. Years 
Ex:
    In 1960s
  
 f. Centuries 
 Ex:
    In the 18th C

 g. Vehicle
 Ex:
   In car

 f. Interest 
 Ex: 
   Interested in 

3.AT


We use at in following situation and condition or to show various relations 

 a. Fixed time
 Ex: 
  •     My class starts at 9:30 am.
  •     I am working at my office right now.

Skills

 b.Skills 
Ex:
  •     She is good at cracking jokes.
  •     Vivek is good at Volleyball.

  c.Showing behaviour  
  Ex:
  •       He is laughing at me.
  •       She is firing at me.

  d. Age
   Ex:
    At the age of 10, I joined dance classes.
    At the end of this course you will find yourselve at the next level.


4. BY

  We use by in following situation and condition or to show various relations 

a. Approxiate time ( lagbhag)
  Ex:
       I will reach there by 11 pm.
      
b. how the task is done 
  Ex:
     I have completed my work by taking help from my friends
  
c. by whom it is done ( kiske dwaara kiya gaya hai task)
 Ex:
     The letter is written by me.

d. Transportation 
 Ex: 
     I will come by bus.


 e. Time approximating 
 Ex: 
    By the end of next year, I will have made profit of 20k.

So lets start with Preposition II...

1. BESIDE AND BESIDES :

Beside- Beside means just next to anything ( bagal me 
Besides- Besides means except ( alawa )

 Ex:
  1.      Varsha is sitting beside Rama. ( Varsha Rama ke bagal me baithi hai. ) 
  2.      Everyone can have lunch besides Jashan ( Jashan ke alawa sabhi lunch kar sakte hai )

 2. AMONG AND BETWEEN :

  Among- Among means anything which is distributing between more than 2 ( more than 2 )
  Between- Between means anything which is distributing between 2. ( 2 )

 Ex:
  1.       She is sitting between me and my friend.( 2 i.e me and friend )
  2.       She is sitting among her classmate ( more than 2 i.e saari class ke bacho ke bich )

3. SINCE AND FOR :

   Since- use when we have no exact number of time 
   For - when have exact number of time 

  Ex:
  1.      I have been doing it since morning/ 1960s/ last night/ last week.  ( Yaha hamein exact nhi                                                              pata  ki kis time se bass hamein yeh pata hai ki kab se 
  2.     I have been doing it for 2 hours/2 months/ 7 years. ( Yaha hamein exact number mein                                                                                                pata  hai  ki kab se hai...)


4. FROM AND TO:

  
FROM
TO
      1.       take/buy   
ex. I have taken this from my friends.
       1.       give,sell
ex. I gave that to you.
      2.       Going away
 Ex. I am coming from my school.
 2.   coming close
              Ex. I am coming to Delhi.
3.   Where are you from?

4.  Ex. Which place are you from?
 3.  to show someone’s behaviour
          Ex. She is always rude to me.
 4. Which place are you going to?


NOTE:

  •    There are many preposition like throughout, with, of, during( short time of period), across (       crossing through) , over, towards, under, below, above, opposite, in front of, off etc...
  •
